About the BestSalsa Mailing Lists

Facebook Group

We use this Facebook Group to keep our members up-to-date with BestSalsa classes & events for those who prefer not to disclose their email address to us. This is purely for classes & events involving BestSalsa - No messages will be forwarded by or for other promoters for free. We also had a Facebook group only for people on the London Network, but that is being replaced by this Facebook Group.

Yahoo Groups

For those who do not wish to use Facebook, we also use 2 "Yahoo Groups" as our mailing lists.

Like the Facebook group above, our NEW Yahoo Group is purely for classes & events involving BestSalsa - No messages will be forwarded by or for other promoters.

A large proportion of all of the Salsa promoters in & near to London use our original mailing list below to circulate their latest news. There are usually about 2 or 3 of these emails per day, but you may opt out of receiving them and still be a member (see option 3 below). Promoters scroll down to see conditons of use.
There are several membership options available. You may receive emails -

  1. From other members. Yahoo calls this "Individual Notices"
  2. From other members, but all messages sent in 1 day are collated into a single email. Yahoo call this "Daily Digest"
  3. From Barry Gordon only. Yahoo calls this "Special Notices". You might find it simpler to join our New Yahoo Group above rather than select this option.
  4. No emails - This option should only be selected temporarily e.g.  if you are going out of town for a short while.

If you have difficulty in changing your membership option, please email us so that we can change it for you.
If you join the group but cease to receive emails, (e.g. because your mailbox was full for a while) please contact us and let us know. Failure to do so may eventually lead us or Yahoo to remove you from the mailing list automatically.

For Promoters Using Our Original Best Salsa Mailing List (Yahoo Group)

  1. The use of the Best Salsa Mailing List is a privilege & not a right.
  2. Approval & rejection of messages is at the sole discretion of Barry.
  3. ANYONE SENDING SPAM WILL BE BE BANNED WITHOUT WARNING. Barry decides what is spam or not.
  4. Messages must be related to Latin-American dancing in or near to London UK with the approximate location included in the subject header.
  5. Only members may post messages.
  6. The email address to send a message to the group, is BestSalsaMailingList@YahooGroups.Co.UK
  7. Members with a Yahoo ID may alternatively post their messages to the group via http://uk.groups.yahoo.com/group/BestSalsaMailingList/post
  8. Messages may only be sent from the same email address that members receive group mail.
  9. Members may post no more than 1 relevant message per week to the group.
  10. If a member sends a message before their "1 week" limit, approval will be delayed until their week is up.
  11. All messages will be coverted to plain text format regardless of the format they are originally sent.
  12. Attachments & non-text portions are not permitted and will automatically be deleted.
  13. We don't usually ask for payment for the use of the Best Salsa Mailing List, but we reserve the right to impose more conditions than the above.
  14. Sometimes Yahoo do not send messages back to the sender. If you want to check whether or not your message has been approved, please check here. before contacting Barry.
  15. Messages will not be approved for free if an event in that message conflicts with any BestSalsa lessons, clubs or events i.e. nearby on the same night.

With effect from 17th October 2008, messages which mention websites will only be approved if that website has a link to http://www.BestSalsa.Co.UK & preferably a banner (which is included below). If the promoter has no links page or the message contains no website, then we request that promoter to send a message to their own mailing list recommending our classes.
