This video clip shows Boogaloo Barry dancing a threesome with 2 of his students after a lesson. These students had only been dancing salsa for 2 months at the time of filming. The style is mixed Cuban & LA style.

Had the ladies been dancing salsa for at least 1 year, it should have looked more like this L.A. style display.

They should have known better. No wonder it takes years to convince people to dance cha cha cha breaking on beat 2 :(

This video clip shows an International style Rumba competiton. Note that this dance bears no resemblance to Afro-Cuban Rumba. It is most likely that there was a language problem when this dance was originally brought to Europe & America from Cuba. International style Rumba is a cross between Bolero & Son. Note that both son & International style Rumba both break on beat 2 not on 1 as in Salsa. Cha Cha Cha, Salsa & Mambo all developed mostly from Son.

This video clip shows a part of the classic film West Side Story. It incorporates an early interpretation of Mambo whereby the it resembles swing which was still popular in the USA at the time before the word "Salsa" had been used to describe music or a dance. Cha Cha Cha & Boogaloo were popular around this time, but Salsa & pop music gradually pushed them out of popularity a decade or so later in the USA.

This video clip shows Hustle (Ballroom Style). This became very popular in New York in the 1970's to date, but sadly never spread much outside the USA despite the popularity of the music.
